Union solider (1848–1920) considered the youngest drummer boy of the Civil War who claimed to have invented wirely telegraphy in 1883. ALS signed “Charlie C. Crabb,” one page, lightly-lined both sides, 7.75 x 9.75, May 17, 1875. Crabb contacts a New York company with a ‘wish list’ of items. In part: “I write you wishing you to send me price of what the following named tools can be had for…I wish to send for the above…for which I am willing to pay you for your trouble.” Intersecting folds, vertical folds through single letters, wrinkling, show-through from a strip of adhesive paper on the reverse (affecting several words of text), scattered staining, moderate glue residue at the top of the first page, and clear tape repair to a tear and missing paper at the top of the page, otherwise very good condition.
