Influential nineteenth-century French writer (1821–1867) best known for his highly imaginative and experimental verse, including the seminal 1857 collection Les Fleurs du Mal. ALS in French, in pencil, signed “C. B.,” one page, 5 x 8, no date. Letter to Monsieur Laumonier. In full (translated): “Unless you spend your Sunday regularly as a day of recreation, I would appreciate if you could come see me tomorrow at 2 o’clock. Please leave a reply at my place before you go back up to Montmartre.” In fine condition. Any handwritten material from the writer is extremely scarce and highly sought after.
