Charles Addams cartoon illustration artwork, originally published in the ''New Yorker'' magazine on 16 August 1952 on page 33. Addams contributed his cartoons to the magazine regularly from 1932 onward. His macabre wit was wildly popular and eventually led to the creation of his most well-known characters, ''The Addams Family''. Here, Addams depicts a golfer leaving a fortune teller's house, as she prophesies over her crystal ball, ''You're going to shoot 127'', a terrible score for the golf enthusiast. Signed ''Charles Addams'' in black along bottom right of drawing. Cartoon's caption is written to mat below illustration, presumably in Addams' hand. Mixed media illustration with ink and watercolor on thick paper affixed to cardboard measures 13.5'' x 13.5'' with two .5'' tears and two .25'' chips to right and left edges, though have been repaired. Else near fine.
