Charlatans Family Dog Poster Group # FD63, 67 (Second Printing) and 71 (Family Dog, 1967). This is a famous set of three posters with interlocking designs, for three separate dates featuring that great lost band, the Charlatans. Widely hailed as one of the first, and best, of the San Francisco-area rock bands of the mid-'60s, they never quite lived up to their promise. By the time they made it to the recording studio, founding member Dan Hicks (seen on the right in the first poster) had left the band, taking much of the band's creative spark with him. But for a brief time, they were kings -- these posters are from that era. The first poster is for May 26-28 shows featuring the Salvation Army Banned and Blue Cheer; the second is for a June 22-25 set of shows with Texas madmen the 13th Floor Elevators; and the final poster is for the July 13-16 concerts featuring the Youngbloods and Randy Holden's Other Half. All the shows were at the Avalon Ballroom. The average size is 14" x 22.5", with the reprinted second poster a little taller. A remarkable set. Average condition VG+.
