Center-hammer percussion belt size pistol with snap bayonet and fancy pearl inlaid stocks circa about 1840-1860. The pistol shows no proofs or makers markings but is definitely continental and probably French or Belgian. The pistol measures 10” overall with 5” barrel of approximately .52 caliber smoothbore. The stock is nicely inlaid with pearl on both sides and back of grip. The left side shows a musket and florals withline borders and large circular dots. The right side shows a tulip and hunting dog with similar florals and borders. The metal remains in good condition showing 50% striped finish on the barrel and some scatterederosion and pinprick pitting. The condition is generally good and the action works well. The bayonet is released through the trigger guard and the spring is slightly weak and does not snap out the bayonet all the way towhere it locks. A very attractive and unusual European pistol seldom seen with pearl inlay. Est.: $600-$1,200.
