(Walt Disney Studios, 1940) Gorgeous original concept drawing featuring the upper halves of three centaurs from Fantasia, depicting a male with bow and quiver and two females during the film’s Pastoral Symphony sequence. Reverse bears a stamp in the lower right corner, listing the title as “Concert Feature,” sequence number as “4C,” and the artist as “Sylvia Holland.” Accomplished in graphite on untrimmed 12 x 10 animation paper. Total image measures 10.5 x 8. In fine condition. During development and early production stages, Disney’s third theatrical animated film was initially referred to as The Concert Feature or the Musical Feature. In spite of a name contest that produced over 1,800 options, the film was released in November 1940 with an early working title that had remained a favorite amongst supervisors—Fantasia. A rare and beautiful piece with excellent display value.
