Eastern Han period jade carving in shape of a hydra dragon on top of a scabbard's chape sword fitting. The reverse side is decorated with a tao tieh mask in bas relief. Homogenous pure celadon jade without inclusions and of the highest quality of carving and jade material. Dimensions: 3" X 0.8" (7.5 cm. X 2 cm.). Provenance: Dr. Veleanu's jade collection, the author of the collectors textbook: " Jade 5000 BC to 1912, Guide to collectors". Estimated value: $2000.
