Bluto is Popeye's nemesis; he, like Popeye, is attracted to Olive Oyl, and usually attempts to kidnap her. However, with the help of some spinach, Popeye usually ends up defeating him. It is generally consistent that Bluto is not highly intelligent, generally * acting without thinking and utilizing brute force, which often signals his defeat at the hands of Popeye. On rare occasions Bluto tries to sabotage Popeye before engaging in plans. Bluto is a large, bearded, muscle-bound fellow. He mostly uses his physical * brawn to accomplish what he is trying to do, but does display some ability for tactical planning. His voice is a very loud, harsh and deep one, with a bear-like growl between sentences or between words in sentences, and which growling contains words that often * can't be comprehended. Bluto's brain is churning... He must have schemed up another "brilliant plan" to put an end to Popeye's rein over him.. * Original Animation Cel Overall Size of the Cel: 13" x 14" Very good condition * This is an original hand-painted cel was used in the production of an episode of "Popeye." Each cel represents a slight change in position of the characters. When individually photographed and projected in rapid succession, the images appear to move. To * create production cels, the original animator's drawing is transferred onto an acetate cel (by hand-inking and/or photo copying). The cel is then hand-painted on the reverse side. * * * The cel received by the winning bidder may be ever so slightly different from that in the auction photo. * * The cel is ready to be matted and framed. There is some minor paint residue on Bluto's face and the cel appears to have been stored.
