Irish poet and the British Poet Laureate from 1968 until his death in 1972. ALS signed “C. Day-Lewis,” one page, 5 x 8, personal letterhead, February 18, 1962. Day-Lewis writes an admirer. In full: “Thank you for your letter. I’m definitely overworked just now, so I wouldn’t have time to read any poems, but if you’d send half a dozen, say, which you think your best, I’ll let you know how they strike me.” Scattered creases and wrinkles, and a collector notation in pencil at the top border, otherwise fine condition.
