DeMille (1881-1959), famed Hollywood producer/director and Best Picture/Best Director Oscar winner for <I>The Greatest Show on Earth</B></I> (1952). This cancelled Los Angeles Bank of America check, dated January 8, 1947, bears the printed names of C.B. and his wife Constance, both of whom have signed boldly. The check is dated January 8, 1947 (the year DeMille's <I>Unconquered</B></I> was released) and is made out to the Department of Employment for $23.80. Also included is an 8" x 10" portrait of the formidable C.B., looking...formidable. A fine tribute devoted to a great Hollywood showman.
