Cavalry Officer's Sword, Germany, circa 1930. Maker, Weyersberg, Kirschbaum of Solingen. Gilt brass lionhead pommel with two ruby eyes; composition brown grip with gilt wire; deeply engraved back strap with shield and leaf design. Gilt brass deeply engraved knuckle bow; langet with swords and lances. Single-edged curved blade with fuller. Inscriptions on blade include knight's head, crowned head, maker's initials "WKC" and former owner's name "Robert S. Nichols" and initials "RSN". Black enameled steeled steel scabbard with one carrying ring. Blade and drag of scabbard have light areas of pitting near tip.
