Catman Comics #1 Denver pedigree (Holyoke Publications, 1941) CGC NM- 9.2 Off-white pages. After an inauspicious debut in Crash Comics, the Catman character was reworked and given a new costume, as well as his own title. The talented and quirky Charles Quinlan was given the art duties, and though L. B. Cole may get more attention for his covers, Quinlan deserves recognition as the primary Catman artist. This copy from the Denver Collection is absolutely remarkable. With sharp corners, bright colors, clean edges, perfectly set staples, and Colorado paper, good luck finding a nicer copy! Since the Denver collection was comprised entirely of #1 issues, this is the only Catman represented in that particular pedigree. Origin of the Deacon and Sidekick Mickey, Dr. Diamond and Rag-Man. The Black Widow makes an appearance, as well as the origin of Blaze Baylor. Overstreet 2002 NM 9.4 value = $4,200. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour.
