Catholic Pieta Devotional Box. A pietà (piety) is a sculpture or painting of the Virgin Mary cradling the crucified body of Jesus. A viaticum is a part of the last rites ritual administered by a Catholic priest to the dying. It refers to the giving of the Eucharist communion wafer to the sick person. Viaticum means ''last provisions'' in Latin. This shadow box pietà contains plaster statues of Mary and Jesus. The sculptures are hand painted. The lower portion is a hinged box for eucharistic supplies with a picture of the Last Supper under glass. Box measures 23"H x 13"W
