Queen of France from 1547 until 1559 as the wife of King Henry II, and mother of French kings Francis II, Charles IX, and Henry III, which granted her sweeping power over the kingdom (1519–1589). Manuscript LS in French, signed “Catherine,” one page, 9 x 13.75, June 7, 1567. Untranslated letter to Fourquevaux, the French Ambassador in Spain, with instructions relating to her daughter Elisabeth, who was married to Phllip II, King of Spain. In fine condition, with central vertical and horizontal folds (one vertical fold passing through a single letter of the signature), light edge toning, and expected document wear.
