Cast bronze Coehorn type mortar, muzzle marked “C. A. & Co #45, 170lbs, inspected by T. J. R. 1863”. The mortar measures 6” across the bore, tube measures nearly 16”. The condition is good to very good with a pleasing deep green patina. The touch-hole is clear, the markings are good, the cannon is mounted on a wood block for display purposes. These mortars were effectively used by the confederates at the Battle of Stone Mountain and were easily portable in wagons or on horseback and provided great mobility to their troops.
