Original vintage glossy 6.5 x 8.5 press photo of Casey Stengel being thrown off the field on May 7, 1923, during his playing days with the New York Giants. Reverse bears a Keystone View Co. credit stamp and affixed caption, in part: "Things were running smoothly at the Philadelphia Ball Park, where the New York Giants were slowly but surely bringing defeat to the Phillies. This hardly suited the temperament of Casey Stengel of the Giants, who took offense at the way Lefty Weinert, Quaker pitcher was throwing 'em. Needless to say a wordy battle was followed by fisticuffs and it took all the policemen on the ball grounds to pry the two apart. Photo shows Casey Stengel being led from the field of battle to the Giant 'dugout.'" In fine condition. During Stengel's infamous meltdown, he first threw his bat at Weinert and then proceeded to pummel him. He was suspended for the incident, and would not play again until June 2nd.
