Cased pair of Colt Third Model derringers, .41 cal., 2-1/2” round barrels, blue and nickel finish, smooth varnished wood grips, #s 40523 and 34332. These guns are in overall very good condition and are accompanied by an overall good conditioned old wood dual casing that is lined in red velvet showing years of the guns laying in this case where impressions have been formed in the lining where the guns were positioned. The case also contains a section that houses a wood handled iron cleaning rod and space at two corners for three cartridges each. The lid of the case shows an unmarked brass plaque and there is some damage to the lid where something heavy was laid across the top and creased the graining on either side of the brass plaque. Derringer #40523 is very good to excellent overall showing British proofs and approx. 85% blue finish to the barrel and 95% nickel finish to the frame; the bore is good, the action crisp and the markings, sharp; the grips are very good with some scattered nicks and mars. Derringer #34332 is very good overall showing British proofs and approx. 80% blue and 90% nickel finish, fair bore, good action and markings; very good grips. Est.: $1,500-$3,000.
