Cased pair of American percussion dueling/target pistols by Sprang & Wallace of Philadelphia. Cased with accessories. .50 caliber smoothbore, medium to heavyweight octagon barrel measuring 9”, 15” overall. Pistols are half stocked in good quality walnut with checkered and saw-handled grip. The pistols remain in very good original condition showing 50-70% original brown going to grey with nice striped pattern and 60-70% case hardening on locks, hammers, breech, and tang which are drifting to a nice patina. The triggerguards and mounts are nicely engraved and the triggerguards who 90% bright original fire blue. The pistols show adjustable set triggers, double silver bands at breech, and German Silver escutcheons, forend cap, and inlays. The pair retain original to the period brass-tipped ramrods and are contained within their original to the period red velveteen line partition style case. The case is in very good condition with some impressions, normal aging, fraying, fading, etc. The case contains and original mold, screwdriver, lacquered pistol flask in good condition, cap box, rod, and correct compartment covers with bone pulls, oiler, and interesting seal which is hand carved, shows the
