Cased Smith & Wesson .32 Safety Hammerless “Bicycle” Model DA revolver, 2” barrel, nickel finish, pearl grips, #87798 in overall fine condition showing approx. 95%+ original finish with losses confined primarily to spots around the grips where the finish has flaked; the gun shows little firing as the interior is crisp, bore is fine, action crisp, markings sharp, case color vivid on the trigger with bright blue on the trigger guard; iridescent pearl grips are fineoverall and fit beautifully; the wood casing with this gun is of English style and overall good with key escutcheon missing and interior re-lined. Accompanying the piece is a 1992 dated letter on Cheshire Constabulary letterhead to noted S & Wcollector, Dr. John Hall from David F. Astbury, referencing this revolver by serial number as being from the estate of Lady Mary Grosvenor, Aunt to the Duke of Westminster, who likely carried this gun in her travels abroad prior to WW II forprotection. Astbury further notes that the Grosvenor family was “amonst” the most wealthy and influential people in the United Kingdom owning considerable property including the U.S. Embassy in Grosvenor Square, London.
