Cased Remington New Model 1858 Single Action percussion revolver, .44 cal., 8” octagon barrel, blue and case hardened finish, wood grips, #40809. This gun is in overall excellent condition showing approx. 90% original blue on the barrel, approx. 65% original blue on the cylinder, approx. 10% blue on the frame and approx. 95% muted case colors on the loading rammer. The bore is excellent, the action and markings are crisp and considerable silver remains on the trigger guard. The grips show better-than-average graining and their overall condition is excellent. The case is original to the period and in overall very good condition with a rose colored lining showing normal wear and compartments to hold the revolver, cap tin, skin cartridges, flask, mold, combination wrench/screw driver and cleaning rod. Accompanying the set is a brass powder flask with beautiful dark patina, an iron bullet mold, combination wrench/screw driver, brass handled cleaning rod, UMC tin of percussion caps, box of six “combustible envelope cartridges” by the American Powder Co. for Remington’s revolving holster pistol, and a case lock key.
