Cased Pair of Moore's Patent Firearms No.1 Derringers with Scarce Arrow Engraving -A) Moore's No. 1 Derringer
Manufactured from 1860 to 1865 by Moore's Patent Firearms Company of Brooklyn, New York. This standard production No. 1 Deringer has a silver plated finish and is decorated with the broad scroll engraving on the barrel and frame that was standard on these pistols but has the scarce large arrows engraved on either side of the barrel. The deringer has a curved trigger sheath and the barrel release button on the right side of the frame. The top of the barrel is marked "MOORE"S PAT.F.A.CO.BROOKLYN N.Y." The underside of the barrel is marked "D. MOORE PATENT FEB.24,1863". The modern wooden case holds the two No. 1 derringers of this lots as well as 8 cartridges.

Fine. The pistol retains 70% original silver plating with balance a smooth brown patina on the barrel and an attractive age patina on the exposed brass on the frame. The engraving is crisp. Mechanically fine. The modern case is good with a long crack on the lid and high sport wear on the lining.

B) Moore's No. 1 Derringer
As described in "A" but an anchor (instead of a floral blossom) is engraved ahead of the hammer.

Very fine. The pistol retains 80% original silver plating (mostly on the barrel) with the exposed brass having a smooth patina. A series of long scratches are present on the grip area. The engraving is crisp. Mechanically fine.
