Cased Pair of Liege Proofed European Percussion Target Pistols with Accessories A) European Percussi
This lot consists of two identical European dueling pistols. The Damascus rifled barrel is marked with a Liege ELG proof on the left flat at the breech. Fixed sights, with adjustable trigger. A scroll engraving is featured on the hammer, lock plate, spur trigger guard, and upper tang, all of which are casehardened. The casehardened breech plug has an engraved band at the front and rear. The half-stock has carved fish scales on the grip area, a carved leaf pattern on the edge of the flared butt and a carved shell pattern on the forend tip, with single stock wedge with silver escutcheons and a silver thumb shield. The butt has a compartment with a shell designed lid, which is also casehardened. Complete with a wooden case with a nicely figured wood veneer and lined with green felt. Included are the following accessories: a wooden mallet, cleaning rod with attachments, ramrod, nipple wrench, single conical bullet mold, "B.A. PARIS" marked powder flask, two extra percussion nipples, oiler, percussion cap container, and several rounds.
BBL: 7 3/4 inch octagon
Stock: walnut
Gauge: 46
Finish: brown/casehardened
Grips:
Serial Number: NSN
Condition: Very good. The barrel has a mottled gray patina with some mild spotting. The barrel retains strong original Damascus pattern in the protected areas around the stock, otherwise some faint traces of the pattern remain. The remaining metal surfaces retain 20% original case colors, otherwise a balance between smooth brown and gray patina. The stock is refinished with a minor crack near the lock and a small piece repaired on the left side of the forearm, along with some minor handling marks. The fish scales are crisp. The case is fair with areas of missing veneer and an area of water damage on the lid which is cracked. The initial plaque and key hole escutcheon are missing. The otherwise very good felt lining has some minor wear and stains, along with a compartment lid missing and a cracked compartment lid missing the knob.
