Ivory bead front and brass mid bead sights on the solid concave solid rib with doll's head extension, which is marked in two separate panels "WESTLEY RICHARDS 170 NEW BOND ST LONDON" and "HIGHEST QUALITY" surrounded by fine English scroll engraving. The water table is marked with two Birmingham proofmarks, "PAT. FEB. 1,76 / 172943" and "ANSON & DEELEY'S / 5460 / PATENT". 3" chambers with extractor. The action and break lever are engraved with fine English scroll and each side of the action is marked "WESTLEY RICHARDS" in a banner. Double triggers, tang mounted automatic safety with gold "SAFE", Damascus barrels and mounted with a nicely figured checkered walnut splinter forearm with horn forend insert, and round knob pistol grip stock with checkered tear drop flats, silver initial circle on the bottom of the grip and checkered horn buttplate. Length of pull is 14 1/8". Complete in a leather wrapped hard takedown case with brass corner protectors, "E.J.S." embossed in black in the lid, double straps, leather handle and green felt lining with Westley Richards label affixed to the inside of the lid. In the case is a cleaning rod (with attachments), oiler, two wad cutters, two powder measurers and tools.

Condition: Very good. The barrels retain 50% of the original thin brown finish with virtually all of the Damascus pattern remaining. The remaining metal surfaces have a smooth gray patina. The wood is excellent with only a few very minor handling marks and sharp recut checkering. The markings and engraving, (except for the trigger guard), are clear. The action is excellent. The case is good with some heavy edge wear, scuffs and scrapes. The lining is very good showing some minor contact wear.

B) Engraved Westley Richards Double Barrel Box Lock Hammerless Shotgun
Single bead sight on the smooth concave solid rib with doll's head extension marked "HIGHEST QUALITY" and "WESTLEY RICHARDS, 170 NEW BOND ST. LONDON". The water table is marked with two Birmingham proofmarks and "ANSON & DEELEY'S / PATENT 1491". The middle of the barrel flat is marked "1491" and the bottom of the barrels are marked with various proofs as well as "NOT FOR BALL". 2 3/4" chambers, the barrels gauge at modified/improved modified with extractor marked "1491". The rear edge of each barrel is marked "813". The action and break lever are nicely engraved with fine English scroll with "WESTLEY RICHARDS" in a banner on each side. The trigger guard engraved with a hunting dog chasing a duck in a marsh scene. The break lever is marked "WESTLEY RICHARDS / PATENT". Double triggers, tang mounted automatic safety with gold "SAFE" and mounted with a checkered, nicely figured walnut splinter forearm with horn forend insert, and round knob pistol grip stock with checkered tear drop flats, gold circle initial plate on the bottom of the grip and checkered horn buttplate. Length of pull is 14 1/8".

Condition: Very good. The barrels show all of the Damascus pattern on a smooth gray patina. The remaining metal surfaces have a smooth silver gray patina. The wood is excellent with some scattered minor dings and dents, and very crisp recut checkering. The engraving and markings are clear. The break lever does not completely return to center and is a little loose, otherwise the action is excellent.
