Cased Pair of French Percussion Dueling Type Pistols, by Chaubet a'Bordeaux, numbered 1 and 2, approx. .50 cal., 10'' fluid steel octagonal barrels, Continental type floral pattern engraved to hammers, upper tangs, triggerguards, butt caps, and lockplates; lockplates additionally inlaid ''Chaubet a'Bordeaux''; with carved and fluted Mediterranean walnut stocks. Tools include hammer, ladle, bullet mold, turnscrew, powder flask, cap box, funnel and oiler, all nicely presented in green baize lined French fitted rosewood case. Ca. 1835-1860. Condition is about fine. Metal surfaces show minor carbon spotting. Grips with light even darkening near metal surfaces. Accessories show light even patination, with moderate knackering to hammer faces. Mold marked ''V.Bessy''. Interior of case shows staining and soiling; exterior of case with light general micro-scratching. All items appear to be present except key to case. A beautiful set of seldom seen French pistols from a region not normally known for firearms. Est.: $5,000-$7,500. (Antique)
