A) Manufacturer: Colt Model: 1849
Manufactured in 1862. The top barrel flat is marked "-ADDRESS SAML COLT/HARTFORD CT-", the lower left rear of the barrel lug is marked with the number "2" and the left side of the frame is marked "COLTS/PATENT". The left trigger guard shoulder is marked with a small "G" and the upper left front of the bow is marked with the letter "B" ("S" on the B gun). The cylinder is roll engraved with the stage coach holdup scene and marked "COLTS PATENT" over the matching serial number. The complete matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the barrel, frame, trigger guard, back strap, and the matching last four digits are marked on the loading lever, wedge and cylinder pin. Standard brass post front and hammer notch rear sights, blue barrel and cylinder, casehardened hammer, frame and loading lever, with silver plated brass trigger guard and back strap. Fitted with a smooth varnished one piece walnut grip. The pair are complete in a walnut case with blue velvet lining. The case interior has seven compartments and comes with two partial Goldmark's cap tins, two 6 count boxes of combustible envelope cartridges, combination screwdriver/nipple wrench, Colt's Patent marked eagle flask and a two cavity iron bullet mold with "COLT'S/PATENT" marked sprue cutter.

Condition:
Very fine. The revolver retains 60% original blue finish with a smooth brown patina on the balance. The frame and hammer retain 60% original vivid case colors with a dark patina on the balance of the frame and silver gray patina on the balance of the hammer. The loading lever retains strong traces of original case colors with a smooth silver gray on the balance. The back strap retains 97% original silver plating which has darkened with age on the butt, with loss limited to the heel, and the trigger guard retains 30% original silver with a mellow aged patina on the balance. The grip is excellent with 99% original varnish remaining, showing some very minor lower edge wear and a few minor handling marks. The markings and cylinder scene are clear. The action is fine. The case is excellent with a minor crack on the bottom and some minor dents and light scratches on the exterior. The interior is very good, slightly faded and the lining shows some contact wear, frayed edges and stains. The accessories are all very good. There is old cellophane tape on the cartridge boxes.

Very good. The metal surfaces have a dark patina with traces of original blue finish in the protected areas of the barrel, as well as some minor spotting on the barrel. The trigger guard and back strap retain 95% original silver plating with some mild flaking and edge wear. The silver is beginning to darken a bit with age. The grip is excellent with 97% original varnish remaining and showing some lower edge wear, and a few minor dents and handling marks. The cylinder scene is 90% visible and the markings are clear. The action is fine. A nice pair of matching consecutively serial numbered Model 1849 Pocket revolvers.
