Cased First Year Production Colt Model 1860 Army Percussion Revolver with Fluted Cylinder Factory Letter and Accessories

Manufactured in 1860, the first year of production for the Model 1860 Army revolver. The accompanying factory letter verifies the caliber, 8" barrel length, blue finish, wood grip and that it was shipped as 1 of 50 to Colts New York Office on January 16, 1861. Remarks state that the revolver was returned to the factory and subsequently included in a 5 gun shipment to J.C. Grubb & Company in Philadelphia on July 9, 1861. At the time of shipment the records note the finish as blue/plated and it had a fluted cylinder. Comes in a period wooden case with a powder flask, nipple wrench/screwdriver, wooden handled cleaning rod, 6 combustible envelope cartridges, single cavity iron bullet mold, oiler, Eley cap tin (nearly full), lead dipper and approximately 22 round lead bullets. Some accessories are contemporary.
