Cased Factory Engraved and Gold Inlaid Number 1 of 40 Second Generation Colt Model 1860 Army Cavalry Commemorative Two Gun Set with Factory Letter and Accessories -A) Colt 1860 Army Revolver

A) These revolvers were the very first set of cavalry commemorative revolvers to be factory engraved and gold inlaid. There are flourishes of floral scroll engraving on the sides of the barrel lug and on the frame. The hammer is engraved with the wolf's head design on both sides. There is a gold inlaid band at the muzzle and breech ends of the barrel along with "1 of 40" inlaid in gold on the left side of the frame. Fitted with a smooth walnut one piece grip with a boxed "MSH" cartouche on each side. With a walnut display case lined in royal blue velvet, a plain cap tin, an engraved bullet mold, an engraved powder flask and an engraved nipple wrench/screwdriver. The factory letter confirms the configuration of both guns, that they came with all accessories mentioned, that the accessories were engraved except the cap tin, that there is a plaque on the lid of the case, that they were originally shipped to Interstate Distributing Company on December 10th, 1979, that they were shipped back to the factory on January 4th, 1980, that they were then shipped to William Winkelman on January 24th, 1980 and that the pistols were returned a second time on April 23rd, 1980 with no more information available.
