Cased Engraved Tranter Patent Single Action Revolver
High quality cased Tranter Patent revolver finished in gold and blue, with fine high quality scroll engraving on the frame sides. The front upper left side of the frame is marked "W. TRANTER'S / PATENT" over "6977" and the bottom of the barrel directly ahead of the frame is marked "64". The upper barrel flat and cylinder between each chamber is marked with British proof marks and the rear cylinder face is marked "64". The frame is gold plated, the cylinder casehardened and the remaining parts are blue. Release lever, trigger, hammer and loading gate are niter blue. Blade front and frame notch rear sights, seven round cylinder and fitted with a one piece checkered walnut grip. Complete in a walnut case with initial shield on the lid, blue felt lining with four compartments, two piece lids and ivory pulls, cleaning rod, screwdriver, original instruction sheet and key.

Condition: Very fine. The frame retains 60% original gold plating with an aged patina on the exposed brass. The cylinder shows 85% original case colors mixed with smooth gray patina. The barrel, hammer and cylinder pin retain 95% plus original bright blue finish with some high edge wear and a small amount of minor spotting. The grip is excellent with a few minor dings and crisp checkering. The engraving and markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent. The case is good with some slight warping of the lid.
