Manufactured in 1855 at the Colt London Armory. Engraving is of the period and is very fine quality. There is no set pattern for London Engraved Colts, so could be factory. The top barrel flat is marked "ADDRESS. COL: COLT / LONDON" inside brackets. Pair of British proofs on the barrel lug, with the proofs alternating between the cylinder chambers. Cylinder has the stagecoach holdup scene and the frame is marked "COLTS / PATENT" on the left side. The wedge is numbered to a different gun (893). Matching numbers on cylinder, frame, barrel, and iron grip straps. The floral scroll engraving is featured on the left and right barrel flats at the muzzle, upper barrel flats at the breech, barrel lug, flat sides of the barrel lug, wedge, frame, hammer sides, and grip straps. Fitted with a smooth one-piece grip. Comes with a partitioned case lined in green felt with the paper loading directions on the inside of the lid. The following accessories are included: cleaning rod, James Dixon & Sons powder flask, package of 6 combustible envelope cartridges (wrapped in protective plastic), Colt bullet mold, Eley Colt percussion cap tin and key.
BBL: 6 inch octagon
Stock:
Gauge: 31 percussion
Finish: blue/casehardened
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 6983
Condition: Very good. The revolver has mostly a smooth brown patina overall with streaks of blue remaining on the barrel with some areas of touch-up. The cylinder retains much of the roll-engraved scene and there a few areas of minor pitting. The grip is excellent with some minor handling marks. Mechanically fine. The case is good with some wood missing along the edges, minor handling marks, and poor lining.
