Cased English pepperbox pistol , .36 caliber, 6-shot, 8-1/2” overall, silver plated over cast-metal frame, nicely checkered wood grips with silver plated grotesque butt cap reminiscent of an earlier era. The barrel group show case hardened finish. The left side of the frame is hand-stamped in an engraved cartouche E.V.S. The barrels show 30-50% case hardening drifting at the edges and bright at the flutes. There is some slight erosion and pinprick pitting. And some slightly heavier pitting at the breech and firing areas. The frame shows 98% of a very heavy original silver plate. The checkered wood grips are very good plus and just slightly dark from oil and handling. The trigger and trigger guard have gone to grey with slight erosion and normal aging. The hammer shows 50-60% case hardening. The action is tight and the pistol is working well. The pepperbox is contained within its original to the period partition style case with close contours. The interior of the case is very good with some slight fraying, losses, fading, etc. An original case hardened mold and combination loader is included with 75-85% case hardening and definitely made for this compartment.
