These .357 Magnums were introduced in 1935 and were a custom manufactured revolver. Smith & Wesson produced about 5,500 Registered Magnums. This example exhibits an extensive leaf engraving on a punch dot background with the sides of the top strap featuring a line and dot motif. The engraving covers most of the metal surfaces. The revolver has standard S&W markings with "REG 5272" marked on the yoke. The top of the rib and top strap are finely checkered and the grip straps are serrated. Pinned Marble blade front sight and adjustable rear sight. An eagle with stretched out wings is carved on the grip panels. The wooden case is lined in blue velvet and comes with bore cleaning tools and two FBI pins.
