Manufactured in 1857. Cone front and groove rear sights, with the two line, two block barrel markings with Maltese crosses and pointing hand on the top barrel flat. The cylinder is numbered to the gun and features the cabin and Indian scene. Fitted with a smooth one piece walnut grip. Matching numbers on barrel, frame, and cylinder. Complete with a wooden partitioned case lined with velvet. Included are the following accessories: two cavity "COLTS PATENT" marked bullet mold, key, single face eagle/shield motif powder flask, and Eley cap tin with caps. The underside of the case has an absolutely original Merrill, Latrobe & Thomas paper retailer's label.
BBL: 3 1/2 inch octagon
Stock:
Gauge: 28
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 17383
Condition: Fine. The revolver retains 60% plus original blue finish (strongest on the frame) with the balance a smooth brown patina. There is a missing minor chip on the right side near the bottom, otherwise the grip is very fine with most of the varnish remaining and some minor handling marks. Mechanically fine. The case is fine with numerous minor dings and scratches with faded and worn lining. A partition wall is detached. Felt "feet" have been added to the underside in order to elevate and preserve the very good retailer's label.
