Cased Colt New Service Double Action Target Revolver in 455 Eley with British Military Markings
Manufactured in 1905. Partridge front sight and rear sight. The top of the barrel has the standard two line address/patent dates (1884, 1900), with "NEW SERVICE 455 ELEY" on the left side with a pair of British proofs and the right is marked "NP .455/.760" 6 TONS". British proofs are also present on the left and right side of the frame, with a pair of proofs on each cylinder chamber. The number "5" is marked on the left side of the trigger guard. The left side of the frame has the Rampant Colt marked "COLT'S NEW SERVICE". Matching serial number on the butt, inside of the frame, and crane. Checkered grip straps and fitted with checkered diamond grips numbered to the gun. The butt has provisions for a lanyard swivel (swivel is included). Complete with a partitioned wooden case lined in blue felt and key. The inside of the lid has a Charles Hellis & Sons Practical Gunsmiths and Cartridge Loading Experts label.

Condition: Very fine. The revolver retains 85% original blue finish thinning to a brown with a strong cylinder drag line and some very scattered mild spotting. The grips are also very fine with some minor dings and scratches. There are a few minor nicks in the overall crisp checkering. The case is fine with numerous minor handling marks and a cracked the bottom. The lining has some minor wear. Mechanically excellent.
