This medium frame, double-action, six-shot, under-hammer, percussion pepperbox was sold by the firm of Orison Blunt and John G. Syms in New York City in the 1830-1850 period. The pistol has a blued barrel group, with deep flutes, frame and grip strap with casehardened ring trigger and bag-shaped two piece floral scroll engraved silver grips. The receiver is engraved with simple scroll and floral designs and the top of the frame is marked "BLUNT & SYMS / NEW YORK". There are no other visible markings on the gun. Complete in a wooden case with red velvet lining, a iron bullet mold, brass charger and key.

Condition: Very fine. The pistol retains 60% of the original blue finish mixed with smooth brown patina. The very fine original grips have an attractively aged patina. The engraving and markings are clear. The action is excellent. The case has had a coat of varnish applied some time ago and remains good with a number of minor dings and scratches. There are a few minor chips on the inside and the lining shows some minor contact wear and soiling.
