Cased 1920 DWM Commercial Luger Set with Two Spare Barrels and Barrel Extensions, Magazines, Cleanin
This is an extremely rare DWM Model 1920 cased commercial three barrel luger set. The documenting letter that accompanies this cased set is from Collectors Investments Inc. and is date 2001, which states that this is "1 of 4" known cased sets of Lugers pistols with this one perhaps being the "Only Known" set with two different calibers! The actual base luger in this lot is a standard 1920 DWM commercial luger in 7.65 mm Luger. This pistol is in like new, fantastic condition, with beautiful blue and straw colored small parts. It has no markings aside from the standard DWM on the toggle, the serial number on the front of the frame and underside of the barrel with a "Crown N" on the left side of the barrel extension and the under side of the barrel. The second stripped upper receiver or barrel extension is fitted with the very desirable Navy pattern 6 inch barrel, in the standard barrel configuration also in 7.65mm Luger and so engraved on the left side of the barrel, "Kal 7,65". This barrel/receiver extension is also unnumbered and is also correctly marked with the standard "Crown N" proof on the left side of the barrel extension and the under side of the barrel. The third stripped upper receiver/barrel extension is fitted with the very desirable, "8 inch Artillery" pattern barrel in 9mm Luger, that is fitted with the correct artillery rear sight adjustable from 100-800 meters, with the standard inverted "V" front sight. This second upper receiver/barrel extension is also unnumbered and is also only stamped with the "Crown N" commercial proof on the left side of the barrel extension and underside of the barrel. Both of the extra upper receiver/barrel extensions are in like new condition with excellent bores. The luger pistol and barrel sets are all housed in a 12 X 17 inch storage/carrying case with black leather covering with nickel plated hinges and licks with red felt lining. The inside lid of the case has a 3 X 6 inch label is marked; DEUTSCHE WAFFEN UND MUNITIOINSFABRIKEN/ BERLIN/ Parabellum Pistols/ Morgan & Scott Ltd./IMPORTERS/ Firearms For Gentry/ 1400 Stark's Building. Cape Town/South Africa". The case has eight compartments; one for the actual luger pistol, one for each of the two extra barrel sets, a separate compartment for each of the two spare wooden base nickel plated magazines, one compartment for the 10 inch cleaning rod, one compartment that holds the two 50 round boxes of original Winchester ammunition (one in 7.65mm Luger and one in 9mm Luger) and one compartment that holds three silver tins that were probably intended to hold, oil, patches and swabs or brushes.
