<B>Cased 1/9th Plate Tintype of a Union Soldier.</B></I> This generic head-and-shoulders studio portrait carries two revenue stamps on its underside and is housed in a remarkable gutta-percha Union case. Both sides are deeply molded with a Union shield, crossed flags and a Liberty cap resting upon a fasces. The image's protective glass is milky where exposed to the photograph, which is quite clear when removed from the matt.
