<B>Cased 1/6th Plate Tintype of Federal Officer.</B></I> The standing subject of this studio portrait wears a uniform frock coat having shoulder straps. Under magnification no devices are visible on the straps suggesting this man was a second lieutenant. The image is housed in a gutta-percha case having exterior geometric and floral designs on both halves. The felt pad on the inside of the lid is impressed "Jones & Bro 604 Arch St Philad".
