<B>Casas Grandes Polychrome Pottery Jar</B></I><BR>Circa 1200-1450 AD<BR>Height 9 3/4 in. Diameter 9 in.<BR><BR>This excellent example features a round base, short flaring sides and a tall tapering body with a slightly raised rim. The jar is painted on each side with a wide diamond shaped form composed of fine parallel lines framing two semi-circular fine lined bands. Triangular forms in red and black, negative spheres, and ticked vertical bands separate the two large diamonds. Casas Grandes was one of the largest prehistoric communities in North America.
