Casablanca (Warner Brothers, 1942). Japanese B2 P
Casablanca (Warner Brothers, 1942). Japanese B2 Poster (20.5" X 28.5"). This poster was released between 1947 and 1948, the first two years of the MPEA (Motion Picture Export Association). The MPEA was set up in 1946 after the war ended to help spread the release of American-made movies in occupied Japan, both new releases and movies not released before the war.Their seal can be seen in the lower left corner of the poster. This is the first Japanese release for this movie. Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman star in what many consider to be one of the greatest films ever made. Against the war-torn backdrop of Casablanca they rekindle a romance amidst political intrigue, corruption and murder. The film went on to win the Oscar for Best Picture, Director and Screenplay. Bogart would receive his first nomination for Best Actor. This is a very rare and beautiful poster, graphically superior to most of the American paper. This is the first copy of this poster we have had. This poster has been folded and has no restoration. It has a couple of very small pieces of archival tape behind the crossfolds. Very Fine+.
