He was schooled in Cairo Egypt, and moved to Paris in 1924. There he developed his artistic style, and began showing working and receiving honors throughout the world, including the Grand Prize of Europe. In 1976 Carzou's art appeared on a French postage stamp. His work today can be found in many public and private collections around the world. Carzou described his own artistic process thusly: "when I am seated before my easel, I disappear into a universe different form ours." That process has become known as the "Bermuda Triangle." effect.
