Glossy 8 x 10 press photo of Grant in his role as submarine officer Matt Sherman, signed and inscribed in black felt tip, “To Jim Maxcy, Cordially! Cary Grant (in ‘Operation Petticoat,’ circa 1959).” The original press caption remains affixed to the reverse. In very good condition, with scattered creases and surface dings, a few spots to background, and an area of surface loss and two heavy wrinkles to bottom edge. Operation Petticoat was a huge hit in 1960, finishing behind only Psycho and Ben-Hur—two of the greatest films ever made—at the box office. A handsome image of the screen legend with the infrequently seen addition of the associated movie title.
