Carved on an XF 1913-P (Type One) Nickel (as many of the original hobo nickels are). This piece grades Average as there is little actual carving done to create the alteration. The hat, beard, hair, and moustache were all made with some sort of knurling implement, creating a series of small, fine parallel lines. Two straight line cuts were used by this unknown artist for the hat brim, and chisel work is obvious on the neck. The field is actually quite well dressed, with LIBERTY missing. The subject has a large, plain ear, and the profile is unaltered.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
