A Maranao-carved and painted stand that was used to display this or another similar Lantaka in the town/village that owned it. In the 19th C. these might have been used to defend that town or simply became an emblem of its past prosperity. 22+ inches long and showing some traces of rot or insect eating...(no longer a threat). Typical Maranao painting is present on both sides.
