Beautiful decorative piece with a practical function and auspicious dragons
This belt buckle made of greenish-white jade dates to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and is of classical form. A finely carved representation of a large dragon head and a smaller chilong dragon adorns the arched top section. The sculptural details and dynamic composition of the two figures are particularly appealing features.
The carving is in very good condition with only minimal wear consistent with age. It measures 3 cm in height and 9 cm in length.
