Featured in this lot is a carved bone, knapped crescent blade knife and a bone handle and bone blade knife circa 20th Century. The first knife features a nicely carved bone handle and knapped knife construction. A knapped blade is a stone tool made by chipping or flaking stone to a desired shape and sharpness. The process of making knapped blades is called flintknapping, which involves hitting a rock with a hammer to extract fragments of specific shapes and sizes. The knife blade is attached via sinew string. The knife shows good condition overall with slight wear present from its age and use over the years but no signs of major damage is noted. The knife blade measures 5 1/2" L x 1 3/4" W, while the handle measures 6" L x 2 5/8" W. The entire knife measures 11 1/2" L x 2 5/8" W x 1 1/2" D.
