This is a street corner photograph of the Briggs House hotel and stage located at 302 S. Carson. Photograph measures 7”x5”, grey single matte with minor wear on the two left corners--9”x7”, contrast is high to medium—minor fading, and focus is good. One can read Briggs House on the hotel and Hotel Briggs on the stage. There is a scratch on the lower portion of the photo below the stagecoach. There is a minor nick out of the lower border of the photo. Photographer not identified. The stage is harnessed to two horses and a man and a woman sit posing in the stage. Five men stand in front of the hotel and a woman is standing on the balcony above the men. The Briggs House came into existence in 1894 after the merger between St. Charles Hotel and the Muller Hotel. The hotel served the Carson City community until 1910 when it was renamed to the Golden West Hotel. The 1907 Nevada State Gazetteer names Wm. S. Ballard as proprietor rates for the hotel ranged from 1.25 to 2.00 dollars per day.
