Lot of five checks from Carson City and Dayton, NV and represent the Dayton Lodge and the Carson City Savings Bank. The checks from Carson City Savings Bank are dated 1881, 1879, and a general unissued check for the 1870’s. The 1879 check is burgundy in color, stamped “paid” on October 21, 1879 and contains an orange Internal Revenue Service watermark. It is for $114. The general 1870’s unissued check has gray lettering which may have been colored when new. There is bold watermark reading “GOLD” in the middle. Next, the 1881 check has burgundy lettering and includes 2 vignettes. The first vignette is large and on the left. It is of a bald eagle latching on to a small globe. The second is in the upper right corner and is of an 1850 lady liberty coin with 13 stars for the original colonies. The two Dayton lodge checks are smaller measuring 6 1/2” X 3”. Both were for $4 and have blue lettering and company seal. The seal has 4 chain links and a vignette of a man aiding and injured friend. These are dated 1899. Each check is in good condition and endorsed by its recipient.
