Wife of Benjamin Harrison and first lady (born 1832) from 1889 until her death in 1892, who oversaw the restoration of the White House and was a founder of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. ALS signed “Caroline L. Harrison,” one page, 4 x 6, Executive Mansion letterhead, no date but circa 1889–1892. Letter to Mrs. Crittenden, in full: "Your note has just been received. I will be glad to see you any time this afternoon or evening that you wish." Affixed to the reverse of a 4.75 x 7 cabinet photo of the first lady by J. D. Merritt of Washington. Silked and in very good condition, with scattered foxing to the letter, and some minor surface loss and soiling to the mount of the cabinet photo.
