Caroline Bonaparte Autograph Letter. One page, 7.25" x 8.75", n.d., n.p.. Caroline Bonaparte (1782 - 1839), Queen of Naples, born in Corsica, was the younger sister of Napoléon I of France. In 1793, Caroline moved with her family to France during the French Revolution. There she fell in love with Joachim Murat, one of her brother's generals, and they married on January 20, 1800. Ambitious and power-hungry, she became grand duchess of Berg and Cleves on March 15, 1806. She became queen consort of Naples on August 1, 1808. The birth of a son to her brother, destroyed any hope of her son Napoléon Achille Murat succeeding to the French throne. So she allied with Napoléon's rival, Klemens von Metternich. When he failed in his attempt to secure the throne for Murat, Caroline fled to the Austrian Empire and Murat was killed. She died in Florence. The document is in fine condition. It has an old label with a history glued to the front page.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
