<B>Carole Lombard's Nurse Costume from "Vigil in the Night."</B></I> Nurse's uniform worn by Carole Lombard in the George Stevens 1940 classic <I>Vigil in the Night.</B></I> Lombard would die only two years after completion of <I>Vigil in the Night,</B></I> in a plane crash outside of Las Vegas. The costume was designed by Walter Plunkett, who had designed the costumes for <I>Gone with the Wind</B></I> a year earlier, and has a tag sewn into the inner seam of the skirt listing Lombard's name and production numbers.
